Technology has reached significant milestones that almost everything is virtually possible. Everything that is big and bulky can now be transformed into small and
handy gadgets. PDA's, Ipod's, microchips, among others, are best examples of this innovation. And now from the big and mainframe computers, we now have the Handheld PC.
Aside from being light and convenient, the makers of handheld PCs could espouse hundred and one reasons why one should buy it. However, these cool gadgets have drawbacks too. For one, the screen is small that one should keep on scrolling down to view the entire screen. Moreover, speed of handheld PC's, particularly those with
internet connection, is slower than a desktop. On a practical level, these gadgets cost more than the desktop and the laptop.
Perhaps these enumerated weaknesses are among the reasons for the decline of
Handheld PC's. While it used to be that the market is teeming with these products, it seems that only Hewlett Packard has survived. Meanwhile, let us wait in expectation as handheld PC companies develop yet another breakthrough for this gizmo.
